Mouth

Sandra Hosking

The mouth can open wide
take in that which fills it
sustenance and nonsense.
It can bite, hard
morph into shapes, the oh, a grimace, a lilt of surprise.
It can close, lips pressing like a vise
not for me, though, not for me.
